Workshop wrap up post
Please fill out the feedback form, reflecting on the course, and some resources to keep things going.
Thank you all for taking the time and sharing your stories! I hope the content will be useful to everyone as they build their companies.
Over 8 weeks we covered a lot of ground and all of it based on my experience. It doesn’t make it 100% right — the goal was to help you develop a set of first principles for you to build on. What does not yet exist is a manual that enables anyone to build a successful company (a really good book does exist but everyone has yet to build a successful company).
After reading all the things out there, if you prioritize a few things you will have a much better chance at finding success.
The three points I want you to take from this series are:
Build something that someone will love AND get to know as much as you can about that someone.
Venture path companies must work at a certain speed (triple in value every ~18 months) and it is ok to not want to build something that works at that speed. You can change your mind later.
Define what success is to you and make a plan to get there. You can always adjust the plan.
My secondary goal in delivering this workshop series was to get to know who is building something in the community and what might help you find your success. I hope you continue to stay in contact and have joined Communitech!
The course page will stay up for a while. All of the summary posts can be found on Substack.
Also, please take a moment and provide some feedback on the course. It helps. I very much appreciate everyone who has provided feedback so far.
Thanks again and best of luck in bringing your products to market!
