Week 6: Aligning yourself with venture capital
Last week we went over the underlying business that motivates venture capital. This week we dig into how you better align yourself with that business.
When talking about aligning yourself with venture capital, I am not looking at like it being a qualifying process or some form of application. Aligning yourself with venture capital is about finding the proper match between where you want to go, and the stage you are at, and convincing people that you are a good bet.
That alignment is not easy. It is about pulling together a bunch of small things so you can avoid doing stuff like this and know why this is the case:
Worth a listen is the podcast with one of the founders of Canva. They do discuss the early days of fundraising.
Topics covered tomorrow:
Why are you raising money and from whom?
The language investors use and why it’s not validation.
Using FOMO when it’s appropriate. Especially in a tough market.
This is the why, what, and how to raise capital.
We do not have a lunch guest this week. The person I had hoped would be here is staying overseas for a few more weeks!
Finally, if you are coming to the 4pm slot. Could you please send me an email? Thanks!
